Many people ask me about the theme's in my work and how I go about thinking about what I will shoot next or what my thinking process is.

To be honest, I don't really have one. I always have fellow photographers tell me they have these grand ideas or theme's of what to shoot before they set out on their journeys but that's never been the case for me. I find that if I go out and shoot everything that I find fascinating it always ties together somehow.

Case in point; Last year I went on a road trip up north and I noticed that I was gravitating towards old buildings and barns that were once these grand structures as a kid that always left me in awe. My Dad used to take me up to Nobleton to check on a house he owned for tenant issues or something of that nature. We used to drive through Kleinburg and in those days, it resembled something more out of 'Little House on the Prairie' with stores that looked like the 'General Stores' rather then the posh place it has turned into. I was always hoping to run into Melissa Gilbert or Michael Landon but that sadly did not happen. We always took the scenic route up Highway 27 and the one thing that I always remembered were these great structures. Looking at them now, they are a shell of what they used to be, and most of them no longer exist or have been beaten by the ravages of weather and time. Pretty soon they will only be a memory and then forgotten. I guess this is my way of remembering what they once represented.

Our modern mentality seems to have lost the need for these institutions and the land that once sustained us is being replaced for Condo's and Townhouses that we seem to have way to many of.   To see more of these structures, please check out my page for more of these deteriorating structures that once stood tall and mighty.

In November of 2011, I got a job as a production assistant for a VERY, VERY LOW BUDGET horror film that was shot very close to the home where I currently reside. A few months before this film commenced shooting, I found myself unemployed, fired by a soul less employer when my wife's health started to deteriorate. I was pretty much living  with my wife at Princess Margaret Hospital sleeping on a cot next to her bed. I had a mortgage to pay with zero income so I was taking pretty much any job I could find. One day I went to the set to meet with others to move props back to Hamilton. When I arrived, no one was there. I decided to pass the time waiting by taking my camera gear and take my own tour around the immense farm property. As I walked passed the very attentive sleeping security guards, I noticed an incredible site. I climbed the top of the hill and started to shoot frantically. After the movie was done I collected my HUGE pay check of $300 for three 12 - 14 hour days.
Being able to sell my work is a way of compensating for the money that I did not have then. However, money is not a way of bringing back those that we lost, in fact, it is the worst way of compensating for the precious things we can never get back. 'The Endless Fields' is currently on display and for sale through me or at Artworld Fine Art in Etobicoke.
